5 Secrets to an Amazing Blow Out on Curly Hair

Blows outs can be easy on the average client, however as stylists we are thrown a curve ball when blowing out resistant curly hair. Known for his blow outs, Celebrity Stylist and be Clarked founder Clark Russell is giving 5 secrets to an Amazing Blow Out on Curly Hair.
Condition is Key - Great hair starts with great products. Brittle, overstressed hair will look even more damaged and dry when blown out. Apply a deep conditioner before a blowing out curly hair to help bring out shine and resilience. If there is time a few minutes with a processing cap under the dryer can work wonders with the deep condition treatment. Straight Talk - When you want to straighten curly hair, its best to follow up a conditioning treatment with a straightening styling aid that contains conditioning elements. A good straightening product will tame frizz, add shine and protect from heat damage. You will want to apply it focusing on areas that typically get frizzy, and work it through the ends. Slippery When Wet - Retaining moisture in the hair is important before blowing out. Hair that dries naturally is hard to take the curl out of and often leads to more work trying to battle the curl. Retain the moisture in the hair by sectioning off the hair and taking small sections at a time to blow dry with a round brush. Make sure you keep the brush rolled tight. Hot and Cold - When styling with a round brush, it is important to use your blow dryer to not only straighten, but to add volume. when using the round brush, concentrate on the roots by applying heat and cooling off with a cool down button. This will avoid burning the scalp and avoid frizz at the root. The same process should be applied through the ends of the hair. Heat is good for straightening, but cooling it down will help lock in the volume. Ironing it All Out - Ironing may be needed especially at the hairline. Apply a bit of serum to the ends to help decrease the risk of damage and seal the cuticle with a flat iron. The great thing about irons now is that they are so thin, you bend the hair into a style or go as straight at you like.
